Deadly Accident on Agra–Lucknow Expressway: Eight Vehicles Collide, Bus Driver Killed

Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a deadly accident took place in Unnao's district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to the intense fog on Saturday evening in Agra-Lucknow expressway and poor visibility, as many as eight vehicle collided with each other.

How the mishap occured?

In an unfortunate incident, a sleeper bus collided with the container truck standing on the expressway, which lead to the death of the driver on the spot. Meanwhile, three passengers and a cleaner got severely injured.

It is to be noted here that the passenger bus was traveling from Jaipur to Lucknow, which collided with a moving container in the Behta Mujawar police station area. After the collision, the driver died on the spot. Reportedly, more than 20 passengers managed to escape unhurt.

As per the locals, the visibility was very poor due to the dense fog in the early morning. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front of the bus was badly damaged and the driver got trapped in his seat. 

What the authorities said after the accident?  

Soon after receiving the information, a team from the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), local police, and an ambulance reached the spot. The rescue operation was started immediately and the injured were rushed to the Bangarmau CHC, where they are undergoing treatment.

What is the identity of the driver?  

Notably, the injured conductor has been identified as Hariom, who is a resident of Morena, Madhya Pradesh. As per the reports, the condition of the other injured passengers is said to be stable.

Reportedly, passengers on the bus were asleep during the time of the accident. The police has taken the deceased driver's body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem. His family members have also been informed about the mishap.

What instruction the police gave?

Due to the accident, traffic on the expressway was disrupted for several hours, which was immediately diverted by the UPDA team. After an hour, traffic was restored by removing the damaged vehicles. 

According to police, further investigation process is underway. The administration has urged the passengers to follow the rules related to the prescribed speed limits while driving on the expressway during foggy weather.
